1999 MaxXbar Tri-Fitness World Championship

Everyone's a winner at Al Rosen's and Danielle Nagel's Tri-Fitness Championship. The world's largest fitness and trade show attracted 115 fitness competitors and over 60 sponsors. These athletes traveled from all over the country to Tampa to take part in this two-day, three discipline championship which was filmed to be aired on Fox Sports Nets, Forever Young. The title sponsor was MaxXbar, a nutrition bar company, whose spokesperson is baseball slugger Mark McGuire. The co-sponsor of the event was ProLab, a prestigious supplement company from Connecticut.

The Creative Edge Grace and Physique Round proved to be a tough task for the 10 judges. The judge's objective was to pick the lean, yet feminine, physique; showing definition and symmetry and be graceful and poised while presenting it. In the end, Kelly Gignilliant, the pride of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, was the first place winner. Katie Uter from Hammond, Louisiana and Andrea Fleming from Chicago, Illinois proved that muscle and athleticism can be totally attractive in a woman as they were awarded second and third place.

The Stairmaster Fitness Round was a highly contested event as the athletes performed their choreographed routines. The contestant who had the crowd on it's feet was the hometown hero, Jennifer Rosen. This 14 year old dynamo was an explosion of movement from the moment her music started. An avid gymnast and cheerleader, Jennifer has been entertaining fitness crowds for two years. Following Rosen's first place finish was the queen of fitness, Kelley G. The former national aerobic champion stunned the crowd with her high kicks and flexibility. Third place went to Cincinatti, Ohio's Sharon Henderson. Her strength moves proved to one and all that she has power to spare. The co-sponsor for this round was Med Sport Laboratories.

The NSN Obstacle Round was co-sponsored by HDT. Kelley G. won this highly contested battle as she edged out Katie Uter. Finishing a close third was Virginia's Elisa Martin. All 115 athlete's did a masterful job conquering the 150 yard indoor course.

The overall first through third place finishers were:

  • Kelley Gignilliant
  • Katie Uter
  • Andrea Fleming

Rounding out the top ten were:

  • Kristin Coleman
  • Jennifer Rosen
  • Pat Guzman
  • Danielle Nagel
  • Cheryl Vasquez
  • Laura Schoenekase
